Even though the Discovery 47 OC with her 14.3 meters is only a foot bigger than the 46 OC, the spatial feeling is enormous, thanks to the heightening of the hull and structure and the ultimate indoor-/outdoor experience of this floating glass five-star suite.

What do you do if your potential customer is incredibly enthusiastic, but would like to go beyond when it comes to standing height and freedom of movement top- and belowdecks? You start on a custom design, a design that is, informally, already dubbed the most high-profile creation of the Frisian wharf. Compared to the Discovery 46 OC, the hull is increased (by 5 cm) and the structure (by even 10 cm), while at the same time maintaining the clearance height of 3.5 metres. Without influencing the linework of the exterior, this led to the desired spatial advantages within the ship.

Largest owner’s cabin in class

As such the Discovery 47 OC features the largest owner’s cabin in its class. The length and width are enormous, thanks to a full bow and a straight prow. The heightened hull ensures the creation of an unrivalled standing height in the master bedroom. Because of this, there is more than enough walk- and storage space around and under the bed. The skylight at the top further intensifies the spatial feeling due to the beautiful incidence of daylight.

Separate shower and toilet

Below deck, the spatial feeling has permeated all quarters, with thanks to the full bow. Compared to other OC-yachts, the extra space allows a different layout. This time we have decided on a shower room on starboard side and a separate toilet on port side. The enormous shower (with glass walls, sink and mirror) and the spacious toilet (with sink) are located on the left and right directly behind the owner’s cabin. No cramped feelings here either, but an immense freedom of movement.

Generous guest cabin

The guest cabin also presents such generous measurements. Two single beds invitingly stand next to one another, and yet there is no lack of walking- or storage space. The unrivalled standing height of the owner’s cabin is also present in the guest cabin. The salon is located above this room, and the dining area of said compartment is positioned on a platform, so one experiences the same standing height in the guest cabin as in the owner’s cabin.

Indoors and outdoors, connected

Everything may look impressive below deck, but on the deck you experience the same. The elevated construction turns the salon into a true penthouse. The 10 centimetres of extra height receive an additional dimension thanks to the enormous windows. From the front, sides and behind; you can enjoy a panoramic view from everywhere in the salon. Additionally, when the four doors are open, kitchen and cockpit are completely connected. The lengthened roof, providing extra cover for the cockpit, contributes to this effect just like the enormous openable skylight that even gives you beautiful upwards vistas.

Ultimate lounge boat

In the ultimate indoor-/outdoor experience, the layout plays a crucial part. The kitchen as well as the luxurious sofas are positioned in the back and thus form a whole with the unique corner lounger in the cockpit. The connection between the two spaces is accentuated further as they have the same floor and because you can watch the television (which is housed in the ceiling) from all relaxation areas. In this manner, Super Lauwersmeer puts the ultimate lounge boat on the market with the Discovery 47 OC.

Lengthened sides

Even the lengthened swimming platform forms part of the lounge area. The lengthened sides ensure the connection to the cockpit. A huge benefit is found in the placement of doors both starboard- and portside. This makes it easier to both get off and back on board when the Discovery 47 OC is docked.

Five-star hotel suite

The modern interior underlines the lounge character of the Discovery 47 OC. According to the owner’s wishes, the interior includes distinct materials like Zebrano-wooden cupboards, Alcantara ceiling panels, snake leather walls and buffalo leather couches. Those who step on board will feel like they’re entering a five-star hotel suite. A laundry machine, drier, oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and even a Quooker will ensure every journey is comfortable.

Bright-orange exterior

Details like the jet-black faucets in the shower rooms and the bright orange faucet in the kitchen underline the luxurious appearance. With that, the Discovery 47 OC meets the high expectations that the exterior sets. The bright orange faucet is in no way randomly selected, but has the exact colour as the coating on the outside of the vessel. Combined with the striping and the silver metallic-sprayed structure, the Discovery 47 OC will immediately catch the eye in any waters or harbour.

Quieter than ever

The ship is propelled by an ultra-quiet 180 PK Volvo Penta D4-motor. High performance and low fuel use are guaranteed! Combined with optimal isolation, Super Lauwersmeer delivers an extremely quiet yacht with the Discovery 47 OC. However, it’s not only this that ensures the ultimate lounge enjoyment. The remote control by Hydronautica and the fully equipped helm position, with big digital screens by Raymarine also contribute to relaxed cruises.

In-house development and production

With the Discovery 47 OC, Super Lauwersmeer again delivers the ultimate in customisation. Once more, the customer’s wishes were key, and the ship was realised in close consultation with him. From development to hull construction and from finishing to final assembly, the owner was involved. Super Lauwersmeer can provide this unique synergy between its professionals and the owner due to the entire process taking place on the own yard in Noardburgum. In this manner, every ship can be perfected further during the building process. In the case of the Discovery 47 OC this, again, led to finishing and construction quality of impeccable levels.

Worldpremiere at the HISWA te Water

This first Discovery 47 OC will debut during the HISWA te water (5th to the 9th of September in Lelystad) and is already available for visits. On the yard, the second Discovery 47 OC is already under construction.
