Pushing boundaries based on customer feedback. With the introduction of the Discovery 48 OC, Super Lauwersmeer has done it again. The fourth model in the popular open cockpit series is 25 cm longer and 19 cm wider than the 47 OC. And that opens up a whole new world of possibilities. The first two are already under construction.

Extra space on board to fully experience comfort and enjoy endless fun. Whether cruising on the popular lakes of the Netherlands or along the French Riviera, this was the vision of the family who approached Super Lauwersmeer for their dream yacht last spring. Every wish the parents and their teenage sons could imagine was put on the table with the Jousma brothers. Not only was the list long, but it also became a source of inspiration.

Longer, Wider, Taller

From a garage for water toys to a fish finder for their fishing hobby. And from a built-in PlayStation to an inflatable swim platform. Since no request was too extravagant, it quickly became clear that the already spacious 47 OC needed even more volume to fulfill the family’s dreams. This led to the creation of a new addition to the Discovery family: the 48 OC. At 14.60 meters in length and 4.55 meters in width, it is the largest Discovery ever built.

Three Full-Sized Cabins

Thanks to the additional space, the 48 OC can be customized to feature three full-sized cabins. This includes a large owner's cabin in the bow, a double cabin to port, and a single cabin to starboard. For those who don't need the third cabin for sleeping, it can be transformed into an office, workspace, or even a sauna. As always, Super Lauwersmeer is happy to tailor this model to the specific wishes of the client.

Fun on the Water

Inspired by the wishes of this client, Super Lauwersmeer designed the 48 OC with a unique onboard garage. This space offers storage for the family’s underwater scooter, jet board, folding bikes, and electric scooters. Of course they've included charging points for this equipment, along with a compressor for easy inflation of the swim platform. With all the fun on the water fully accounted for, this yacht is ready for endless enjoyment!

Relaxing by the Water

In addition to fun on the water, there’s plenty of space to unwind by the water as well. At the stern, a large swim platform creates a terrace-like feel right at the water’s edge. This Beach Deck, inspired by the SLX54, is equipped with a comfortable outdoor shower, parasol, awning, and sound system, offering the ultimate lounging experience. From the swim platform, you can step directly into the open cockpit, where a large L-shaped sofa invites you to continue the relaxed, lounge atmosphere.

Modern Features Throughout the Yacht

As you’d expect for a modern family, the 48 OC is fully equipped with the latest electronics. The yacht features WiFi, a large TV in the salon, plenty of charging points throughout, and the Fishfinder the client envisioned. The highlight for the teenage sons is the built-in PlayStation in their cabin. For cooking convenience, the modern kitchen includes a wine cooler, an extra fridge, and an optional Quooker (hot, cold, and boiling water from a single faucet). On top of that, the Discovery 48 OC is equipped with air conditioning throughout the entire vessel, ensuring comfort in every corner.

Once Again Developed with the Client

With the introduction of the Discovery 48 OC, Super Lauwersmeer proves once again that it embraces every challenge and has a keen sense for trends and customer desires. This model further highlights the shipyard's commitment to building dreams in collaboration with its clients. When this family drops anchor, their watersport paradise unfolds. The tender is launched from the swim platform, the garage door opens for the water toys, and the inflatable swim platform is set up for endless fun!

Summer 2025

While the focus this time was on maximizing fun, the next client may choose a completely different direction. Curious about the first version of the Discovery 48 OC? Super Lauwersmeer is happy to show you the design plans for inspiration. However, stepping aboard the ‘first edition’ will require a little more patience. The first Discovery 48 OC is currently under construction and will be launched in the summer of 2025. A second model is already in the works at the shipyard.
