Worldpremiere at HISWA: Discovery 45 Flybridge
An athletic look, single-floor living quarters, and a cosy open cockpit, while still steering outside. With its Discovery 45 Flybridge, the Super Lauwersmeer shipyard presents the third member of its successful Discovery family.
The Flybridge combines the Discovery OC's irresistible look and lounge feel with the outside steering option of the Discovery AC.
Panoramic views from the lounge sofa
The core difference with the Discovery OC – which the Flybridge has been based on – lies in the panoramic rooftop terrace. The ergonomic staircase leads to a surprisingly large upper deck, where we find the outside steering wheel, all necessary equipment, and a comfortable lounge sofa. If desired, this space can be fitted with an integrated refrigerator and sink, which will come in handy, because once you're up there, you'll want to enjoy the gorgeous views for as long as possible.
Stunning design
With the Discovery Flybridge, Super Lauwersmeer is launching a yacht that is one of a kind. This 14-metre long, steel Flybridge with its striking looks is unparalleled in its class. Most Flybridge ships require much more length to attain such a stunning appearance. The yacht's lines, from the pen of renowned designer Arnold the Ruyter, in combination with the practical and innovative features from Super Lauwersmeer, will make many dreams come true.
Engineering innovations
As a water displacer, the Discovery Flybridge will be outfitted with either a 150 or a 220 hp diesel engine. Those with the need for speed can opt for the semi-displacement version, with double 370 hp engines and an optimised underwater body, allowing for top speeds of over 20 knots. Other innovations, such as the silent Vetus Rimdrive bow thruster and Whisper Power silent electricity – doing away with any need for an on-board generator – are all part of the possibilities.
Comfort like home
On board of the Discovery Flybridge, you will find the comfort you are used to from your own home. The kitchen, adjacent to the cockpit and therefore beautifully central on the ship, has been fitted with all possible amenities. From dishwasher and refrigerator to an oven and even a Quooker water tap. Walk to the front of the vessel and you'll find the saloon, with a beautiful corner sofa and gorgeous, 360° views. Here, you will also notice the innovative Super Lauwersmeer spirit. The staircase to the upper deck has been made as open as possible, and windows have been fitted behind it, meaning that the views are virtually as good as they are in the open cockpit.
Large main cabin
Cross the saloon and you'll find an ergonomically designed staircase that brings you below deck, where the two cabins are situated. The owners' cabin is situated in the very front of the ship and is fitted with a French bed. There is a lot of room to move about around the bed, both vertically and horizontally. Thanks to the large wardrobes and the huge drawer underneath the bed, you will always have the right outfit on board for any occasion.
Large bathroom unit
A two-person guest cabin has been installed on port side, where there is also room for a washer/dryer and a large freezer.
The bathroom unit can be found on starboard side. A prominent feature is the large shower cabin, which is separated from the vanity and the toilet by a glass wall. This prevents anyone getting their feet wet.
Perfect for long, adventurous journeys
Just like any other Super Lauwersmeer vessel, the Discovery Flybridge is aimed at offering you the comfort of your own home. Every single square centimetre has been optimally utilised for living or storage. Your (electric) bikes will fit comfortably in the storage space beneath the open cockpit; the saloon cellar makes it easy to stock as many supplies as you need for long voyages; and the kitchen is filled to the brim with innovative solutions for storing kitchen equipment and ingredients. With the aforementioned large French bed, the spacious shower cabin with glass doors, and the washer/drying and the freezer, the Discovery Flybridge is the perfect vessel for long journeys to southern Europe or Scandinavia, as well as for comfortable trips closer to home.
A world first during the 2016 HISWA te Water Fair
The Super Lauwersmeer Discovery 45 Flybridge will have its first outing ever during the 2016 HISWA te Water Fair, which will be held in the Amsterdam Marina from 30 August – 4 September 2016. The Flybridge will lie side-by-side with the Discovery 45 OC (Open Cockpit), which had its world debut during last year's HISWA.
