SLX54 named Powerboat of the Year 2023
An international jury has named the Super Lauwersmeer SLX54 "Powerboat of the Year 2023". During a gala night at Boot Dusseldorf, the jury – made up of renowned water sports journalists – crowned Super Lauwersmeer's new top model as the boat of 2023.
The award was presented – along with resounding applause – to Bastiaan and Louis Jousma, the owners of Super Lauwersmeer. Together with yacht architect Arnold de Ruyter, they spent the past few years working on the SLX54, an innovative new motor yacht with many unique features. Those features did not go unnoticed by the jury.
Unique to the SLX54 is its layout. Especially for a yacht of 'only' 17 metres. The SLX54 lets Super Lauwersmeer put an end to the tough choice between a yacht with an open cockpit or an aft cabin. The SLX54 not only merges the two, but manages to combine them in a design that is unprecedentedly exciting for a steel yacht.
Also unique is the underwater hull - a cross between a displacement vessel and a fast-sailing ship. Thanks to the unique shape, a top speed of 16 knots (30 km/h) can be achieved without losing the benefits of the more comfortable characteristics of a steel motor yacht.
Super Lauwersmeer was the only Dutch shipyard to win an award during the Powerboat of the Year 2023 election. In doing so, the shipyard upholds the Dutch reputation. Want to know more about the SLX54? She can be viewed until Sunday 29 January in Hall 1 at Boot Düsseldorf.
